Grades 7 - 12

Grade 7
7th Graders are preparing and becoming adult members of the community as they prepare and become Bar or Bat Mitzvah. Their Religious School program is held on Tuesday evenings from 5:45 – 7:45 pm and the goals include community building, making Reform Jewish choices, electives and preparing for Jewish adulthood (dinner with the Grade 8-10 community also takes place). Thursday afternoons are used for Bar and Bat Mitzvah preparation during which learners take Doin’ Drash with Rabbi Sirkman to work on the process of learning and teaching Torah (with the aim of giving a Drash at one’s Bar or Bat Mitzvah) and continue to take Hebrew. Thursday is designed so that one takes Doin Drash for only one semester (Fall or Spring depending upon one’s Bar or Bat Mitzvah date).

Grade 8 & 9
Grades 8 & 9 continue their Jewish learning and community building through electives and larger group programs. This year’s program will include one to two trips offsite. 8th and 9th graders may also participate monthly in either Rosh Hodesh: It’s a Girl Thing or Shevet Achim: The Brotherhood gender specific groups. Created by Moving Traditions, these programs explore Jewish identity and confidence building in gender specific small groups.
Grade 8 and 9 learners are also invited to serve as Madrichim (Assistant Teachers) in our Religious School and Grade 9 learners are invited to participate in LARFTY, our synagogue’s youth group. For more information, please be in touch with Adam Tanenbaum (LARFTY) at Adam@larchmonttemple.org.

Grade 10 – Confirmation
Grade 10 learners have the extraordinary opportunity to spend the year learning with Rabbi Sirkman in Confirmation Class. Highlights include Tuesday night learning dedicated to developing one’s own theology, a trip to the Religious Action Center’s L’Takein Seminar, running Purim activities for the younger LTRS community and leading and participating in a special Shavuot Confirmation service at the end of the year.

Grade 10 learners are also invited to serve as Madrichim (Assistant Teachers) in our Religious School and to participate in LARFTY, our synagogue’s youth group. For more information, please be in touch with Adam Tanenbaum (LARFTY) at Adam@larchmonttemple.org.

Grades 11 & 12
11th and 12th grade learners meet with Rabbi Sirkman monthly for Diner Dialogues at the Nautilus Diner.

In November, our 11th and 12th graders will participate in a Southern Jewish Journey Trip with teens from other Reform synagogues in the area.

Grade 11 and 12 learners are also invited to serve as Madrichim (Assistant Teachers) in our Religious School and to participate in LARFTY, our synagogue’s youth group. For more information, please be in touch with Adam Tanenbaum (LARFTY) at Adam@larchmonttemple.org.
