Ted Dreier, Full-Time Educator
Ted Dreier is very excited to join the Larchmont Temple team as their first Full-Time Educator. Before coming to Larchmont Temple, Ted spent the summer of 2015 at URJ Camp Newman in Santa Rosa, CA, serving as a Rosh Eidah (unit head) for 9th and 10th graders, working with teen counselors, planning experiential Shabbat programs, and playing the occasional frisbee game. He graduated from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Los Angeles with a double masters in Jewish Education and Jewish Nonprofit Management. While there he worked at Wilshire Boulevard Temple, Santa Monica Synagogue, and Jewish World Watch, a nonprofit organization that does education, advocacy, and relief work for refugees in Darfur and the Congo. He also received a BA in Jewish Studies from Rutgers University.
He is looking forward to working with and learning from the staff and congregants here at Larchmont Temple. He hopes to bolster and transform the educational programming, and bring meaningful Jewish learning to our children, adults, and families. Ted lives with his girlfriend in Washington Heights, NY.
Ted can be reached by calling the Temple office or by email at email@example.com
Adam Tanenbaum, Music & Youth Coordinator
Adam Tanenbaum is incredibly excited to be joining the Larchmont Temple family! He grew up just outside of Washington D.C. and attended Indiana University. Growing up, he was always very active in NFTY-MAR and every summer attended URJ Henry S. Jacobs Camp in Mississippi. For the last 8 years he has been very active in Jewish communities around the United States and the world songleading, service leading, and running educational & social programming for children, teens and adults. In 2013, he spent a few months with a Progressive Synagogue in San Jose, Costa Rica working with their religious school and expanding their music and Jewish Studies programs for post bar mitzvah aged students, followed by an extraordinary year in Australia traveling the country to lead services, work with youth movements, create religious school curriculum and much more.
This past year, he held a fellowship at the American Hebrew Academy, a Jewish boarding high school in Greensboro, NC. In his role as an RA in the dorms, he facilitated campus-wide “after hours” programming, and held an active role within the Jewish life team leading services and planning activities for each holiday. This summer, he is a Unit Head for rising 10th graders at the summer camp where he grew up, URJ Henry S. Jacobs Camp. He has piloted a new program for his campers, creating a program focused on building leadership skills, strengthening campers’ connection to Israel, and tikkun olam. He is thrilled to be joining you in Larchmont this coming year, and already has some great programs and ideas in the works for the nursery school, religious school, and LARFTY alike!
Mia Shapiro, Administrative Assistant to the Religious School and LT Clergy
