Polyphony featured at the American Conference of Cantors-Guild of Temple Musicians Convention held in israel

A delegation of 60+ cantors and synagogue musicians, including our own Cantor Katie Oringel, representing both worldwide organizations, visited Israel in July, 2024 for a 10-day convention to meet with and learn from Israeli scholars, musicians, and officials. Polyphony Executive Director Nabeel Abboud Ashkar spoke about Polyphony’s shared Israeli society mission and the importance of maintaining such values after October 7th. A performance by Polyphony’s Arab-Jewish Galilee Chamber Orchestra followed, perfectly exemplifying these values in action. The opportunity to present was made possible by longtime Polyphony friend Cantor Leslie Niren of Temple Emanu-El in Dallas, the convention co-chair. The event strengthened ties between the U.S. Jewish community and Polyphony, and expanded Polyphony’s U.S. circle of friends.
