Rabbi Frankel’s Sermon for Erev Rosh Hashanah, 5784/2023
September 29, 2023The Yahrzeit Project – From Rabbinic Intern Lily Goldstein
We’re trying something new this year. Each week, I’ll be reaching out to a couple of LT members who are observing a yahrzeit to learn about their loved one – a 15-30 minute phone call about the relationships, stories, memories, and legacies that endure. These conversations will be compiled at the end of the year into a book of memories for LT to reflect on at Yizkor 5784. Additionally, on the last Friday evening each month, instead of our usual introduction to Mourner’s Kaddish at the end of services, we’re going to invite congregants who are observing a loved one’s yahrzeit that evening to share a few words of memory about the person whom they’re remembering.
